This conference will use Marxist class analysis to show why the system of globalized capitalism is making the present crisis permanent and so severe for the workers. It will discuss how imperialist wars are hastening the capitalist decline while increasing racist police violence and state repression.
Supporting the rights of the oppressed for self-determination — whether it be in Libya where U.S./NATO bombs are attempting regime change, in the hellholes of U.S. prisons, or fighting for immigrant rights will be a key part of the conference. So is understanding the added burden of sexism and gender oppression of women and lesbian, gay, bi, transgender and queer people.
This conference won’t just talk about the problems. It will provide needed perspective – the fight for socialism – the only system that can end all forms of exploitation and oppression by breaking the stranglehold of private ownership that monopolizes the tremendous wealth created by the working people of the world. This conference will provide a clarion call for all socialist-minded activists to unite to help strengthen the worldwide movement.
This year the Workers World National Conference will be held on Oct. 8-9, at the Paul Robeson Complex in the Bronx, N.Y.
Young activists are organizing a panel entitled “Rebel Against Capitalism.” Clearly, the role of youth in fighting against the economic crisis, the dire austerity measures and repression, whether in Egypt, Greece, Wisconsin, in all the oppressed communities and on Wall Street is giving a revolutionary boost to the class struggle.
It is more urgent than ever: we can and must build an independent movement that fights against racism and war and for jobs, social programs and justice.
You don’t want to miss this conference of revolutionaries.
