Iran – Has Time Run Out? The Lead-up to War?
For years, people have said the idea that the US would ever attack Iran, was ludicrous. It would never happen…Iran was close to the US, Iran was the buffer between Iraq and the Arab states, it was delusional.
I am praying that I am still delusional.
Yet time and again, history is repeating itself. Friends become enemies, depending upon the sanity or lunacy of leaders. Who ever would have thought that the US would actually bomb to bits the Middle East, knowing the horrific outcomes of the Triple Entente’s games in the 20th century?
The day before Britain declared war on Germany in WWI, they were both playing sports together as good neighbours, never to turn on one of ‘our own’ (British monarchy is primarily German). The day until Britain declared war on Germany in WWII, everyone was friends and Hitler was under the impression that the English – Germany’s dear brothers – would never repeat the same mistake as 1914.
The more things change, the more they stay the same. You just have to keep the war machine churning to keep the voting base employed, revenues to drive the economy.
Germany said today, the world’s patience has run out.
Obama said, in his SOTU address, “to create more of these clean energy jobs, we need more production, more efficiency, more incentives. And that means building a new generation of safe, clean nuclear power plants in this country. (Applause.) ” http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/remarks-president-state-union-address
How stupid do Europeans and Americans think the rest of the world is?! Somehow they are all too IQ-challenged to get this glaring hypocrisy?
For those interested in Iran then, just save these run-ups. Keep a file, and go back later and see just how parallel all these wars are in their lead-ups. (Note: the new government in England – a certainty it appears, in May – fully supports a war in Iran. Castigating Tony Blair and the rest in the Iraq Enquiry has been seemingly a blatant waste of time; no lessons learnt whatsoever.)
So yes, I hope I am dead wrong and it will never happen. Just as many of us said about Iraq.
