James Petras is Binghamton University New York Professor Emeritus of Sociology. His credentials and achievements are long and impressive as a noted academic figure on the left, well-respected Latin American expert, and longtime chronicler of the region’s popular struggles. He’s also an advisor to the landless workers (MST) in Brazil and unemployed workers in Argentina.

Petras is also a prolific author. He’s written hundreds of articles and 64 books in 29 languages, including his two newest ones – “Rulers and Ruled in the US Empire” and “Multinationals On Trial.”

Petras is just back from a trip to Venezuela. His assessment of conditions there will be discussed plus other relevant events in the region and around the world.

Jeffrey Smith is an international bestselling author and leading spokesperson on the health dangers of genetically engineered (GE) foods. His two important books provide detailed information on their hazards – Seeds of Deception published in 2003 and his newest book, Genetic Roulette.

He also supports The Campaign for Healthier Eating in America. It’s a revolutionary industry and consumer movement to remove GE foods from the natural food industry. In addition, he’s the executive director of the Institute for Responsible Technology that serves as the premier meeting ground for leaders of America’s non-GE community.

Discussion will focus on the dangers of genetically engineered foods to human health and Smith’s efforts to build a campaign to stop their proliferation and use.
