“A transformation strategy that solely pursued capabilities for projecting force from the United States, for example, and sacrificed forward basing and presence, would be at odds with larger American policy goals and would trouble American allies. Further, the process of transformation, even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event – like a new Pearl Harbor.”

– Rebuilding America’s Defenses: Strategy, Forces and Resources for a New Century [1]

“To me luck is something that happens once. When you have this repeated pattern of broken protocols, broken laws, broken communication, one still cannot call it luck.”

Mindy Kleinberg [2]

Twenty-three years ago this coming week, a terrorist attack on America killed thousands. [3]

For the vast majority, the only acceptable reaction is to neutralize the menace by deadly force.[4]

A 9/11 Commission was put in place 411 days later. The stated goal was to get to the bottom of these attacks, why the usual defense mechanisms did not stop them, and what changes we could make to protect attacks like this from happening again. [5]

Family members of the tragedy came together and started putting questions to the Committee of government operators. Why weren’t NORAD Jets able to Intercept the Hijacked planes if they were airborne within eight minutes of notification? What are the names of the individuals and financial institutions who placed “put” orders on American Airlines and United Airlines three weeks before 9/11? Why didn’t the Commander-in-Chief, President George W. Bush, having been informed of the airplane strikes, return immediately to Washington DC or the National Military Command Center? Who approved the flight of the bin Laden family out of the United States while all commercial flights – including of American family members of 9/11 victims – were grounded? What role did Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the ISI, play in aiding bin Laden and/or al Qaeda from 1998 through to the present?[6]

These and many more questions were submitted to the Commission by 9/11 family members like Bob McIlvaine whose son died in the North Tower on September 11, 2001, and the famous 9/11 widows known as the “Jersey Girls.” The questions remained unanswered. [7][8]

After studying the case in tedious detail, many individuals, but particularly 9/11 family members have come to the unpleasant conclusion that the might government of the “greatest” nation on planet earth may not be immune to direct responsibility for the attacks. It is therefore the 9/11 victims’ families who will be the focus of this year’s anniversary episode of the Global Research News Hour.

In our first half hour, our guest is Matt Campbell, brother of Geoff Campbell who was killed in the North Tower on the morning of the attacks that launched the “War on Terrorism.” He will discuss his failed efforts at getting a new inquiry into his brother’s death and what will happen next.

And in our final half hour, author Ray McGinnis will talk about his 2021 book, Unanswered Questions: What the September Eleventh Families Asked and the 9/11 Commission Ignored, the book which also lays out the problems with the “Official story” and the consequences for the loved ones of both the attacks and the establishment of a false legend.

Matt Campbell has a degree in Mathematical Physics, a Master’s Degree in Applied Mathematics and a Master’s Degree in Scientific Application Software. HE lives in a small village in Sussex, UK. He is one of the featured speakers in the film The Unspeakable, about 9/11 victim’s families doubting the official  story. He is the oldest brother of Geoff Thomas Campbell who died during the September 11 attacks.

Ray McGinnis is author of Unanswered Questions: What the September Eleventh Families Asked and the 9/11 Commission Ignored (2021). Previously, he authored Writing the Sacred: A Psalm-inspired Path to Appreciating and Writing Sacred Poetry (2005). Ray is interested in the stories we tell, the narratives we trust, and how this shapes our world. This includes not just personal stories, but news headline like the Narrative about September 11, and other headlines that saturate citizens with slanted media messages. He lives in Vancouver, Canada.
